Energy that comes from deep down – and thinks far ahead

STOCK resort

What if ...? This question opens up new perspectives – it encourages us to appreciate what we have, but also to explore new avenues.

At STOCK resort, this attitude is put into practice: where nature, quality and progress meet, a place is created where comfort and responsibility go hand in hand. A place that offers relaxation – while taking into account what has sustained generations: the alpine landscape, the people in front of and behind the scenes, and the power from the heart of the earth.

Imagine if your holiday destination didn't just consume energy, but carefully generated it. Directly from the centre of the Earth. That's exactly what happens at the STOCK resort in Finkenberg in the Zillertal valley, where comfort and environmental awareness go hand in hand in an impressive way.

Energy from a depth of 3,600 metres

At the STOCK resort, part of the energy required comes from the earth. Nine deep probes, each 400 metres deep, supply geothermal energy for both heating and cooling. This sustainable technology works independently of wind and weather and ensures efficient energy transfer in a closed circuit, similar to underfloor heating, directly into pools, floors and rooms.

This made the STOCK resort not only the first hotel in the world to drill into karstified marble rock, but also the largest geothermal project of its kind in Austria.

Heat that also cools in summer

What makes it special is that geothermal energy can be used not only for heating but also for cooling – a particular advantage during the hot summer months, when cooling requirements are often higher than heating requirements in winter. Using intelligent technology, the resort exploits the natural temperature differences in the ground to cover a significant proportion of its energy requirements in a particularly efficient manner.

Double use of energy: from the laundry to the pool

But that is only part of the big picture: the waste heat from the hotel's own laundry is also put to good use – it heats the 25-metre outdoor swimming pool, for example. The laundry itself is efficiently treated with steam generated by a gas turbine. An additional combined heat and power plant complements the energy system – well thought-out and resource-efficient.

More than energy from the depths

At STOCK resort, responsibility is demonstrated in many ways

  • A strong signal: electric mobility for the team

The forward-looking approach of the STOCK resort is also evident in its treatment of its own team. More than 20 employees now drive BMW i3s – provided free of charge by the hotel. This is not only a plus for the environment, but also for the appreciation of long-standing colleagues.

  • Sustainability in detail:

The environmentally conscious approach extends to all areas: straws made from starch instead of plastic, washable spa utensils, paperless reservations and recyclable shipping materials – every detail counts.

  • Appreciation in every dimension

At STOCK resort, it's not just about energy, but also about people. Flexible working hours, our own team lodge with sauna, fitness area and pool, individual training opportunities, genuine gender equality in management positions – all this creates a working environment that is thoughtful, empathetic and motivating.

  • Responsibility that goes further

With its own association, ‘STOCK for Good’, the resort is committed to looking beyond its own horizons – supporting children's cancer aid projects, local hardship cases and animal welfare initiatives. Hilde, who arrives – with heart and attitude.

  • Conclusion: Holidays with an impact

When you holiday at the STOCK resort, you not only experience luxury, but also the satisfying feeling that there is more to this place than just relaxation. It is a place where the future is considered, technology is used sensibly and people are valued – and this is evident in every corner of this impressive establishment.

Welcome to a place that shows that well-being and environmental responsibility are not mutually exclusive. On the contrary – they are inextricably linked.
