DOUBLE EXPANSION FOR THE BEST ALPINE WELLNESS HOTELS

The Best Alpine Wellness Hotels are expanding: on 1 October 2026, the renowned hotel partnership will welcome two new member establishments into its ranks. With the Böglerhof – pure nature spa resort in Alpbach, Tyrol, and the Hotel Karnerhof on Lake Faaker See in Carinthia, two long-established, family-run hotels are enriching the Best Alpine Wellness Hotels community.

 

In their own unique ways, both hotels embody the values that have united the Best Alpine Wellness Hotels for decades: exceptional quality, genuine hospitality, a strong connection to nature, and a holistic approach to wellness and wellbeing.

 

The admission of new members is subject to comprehensive quality criteria. The establishments are carefully assessed in advance and must meet the high standards set by the hotel association in the areas of wellness, cuisine, hospitality, sustainability, staff focus and the alpine holiday experience.

The Böglerhof – Alpine joie de vivre and wellness in Alpbach
In the heart of the historic Tyrolean mountain village of Alpbach lies the Böglerhof – pure nature spa resort. This family-run 5-star hotel combines Tyrolean tradition with contemporary design, a love of nature and a comprehensive range of wellness and leisure facilities.

The Duftner family, the hotel’s hosts, have been shaping the Böglerhof since 1933. Today, the hotel presents itself as a modern Alpine retreat with 75 rooms and suites and a spacious wellness area covering around 7,400 square metres.

At the pure nature.spa, guests aged 15 and over can find a space for peace and relaxation – featuring, amongst other things, a natural swimming lake, a heated outdoor pool and views of the surrounding mountains. Families have their own dedicated wellness area at the

Familienzeit.spa. The offering is complemented by a varied programme of activities, spacious gardens and award-winning cuisine.

The Karnerhof – Wellness between the lake and the mountains
With the Hotel Karnerhof, the unique lifestyle of Lake Faaker See joins the Best Alpine Wellness Hotels association. This family-run hotel is situated directly on the turquoise-blue lake, framed by the impressive mountain backdrop of the Karawanken and with a view of the striking Mittagskogel.

Water and nature form the heart of the wellness concept. At the SEEMOTIONENSpa, guests can enjoy, amongst other things, a 20-metre-long infinity pool, an infinity hot tub, various saunas, spacious relaxation areas and an adults-only relaxation zone. Another highlight is the hotel’s own lakeside bathing area with direct access to Lake Faaker See and a lakeside sauna in the boathouse.

The unique location offers a wide range of opportunities for exercise and relaxation in nature throughout the year. At the same time, the spacious hotel grounds provide plenty of space for retreat, enjoyment and quality time together – for couples as well as families.
