Lactate Test

Lactate is a metabolic product of working muscles. This test measures the lactate value after a short application of physical stress to determine the ideal training range. It is appropriate for beginners, less so for highly trained athletes. The test comprises sequential levels of performance. In untrained persons the test is stopped before maximum performance is reached. At the end of each performance level, blood is taken from the ear lobe or finger. The sample of blood is used for lactate testing. During the test the heart rate is also recorded and used for evaluation.
