Acupressure derives from traditional Chinese medicine. The Chinese culture is based on the view that vital energy flows through body along energy flow lines (meridians). If the flow of energy (qi) is interrupted due to illness or stress, it can be reactivated through gentle pressure and massage. Acupressure activates certain meridian points in the body through circular movements of the fingers. There are a total of 12 major meridians arranged in pairs; in traditional Chinese medicine these correspond to the 12 organs of the body. Based on these links, using gentle circular movements of acupressure it is possible to exert a harmonising effect on the corresponding organs inside the body by removing disturbances or blockages of the flow of energy through the meridians.
