Hay bath The vital power of this meadow herb high in the mountains is a medicinal plant. "A bed in mountain hay..." the hit at wellness hotels.
The Alm meadows are, for the most part, trimmed by hand. Steep cliffs and partially jagged landscape make it impossible to use lawn mowers or other lawn equipment. The vegetation is trimmed twice a year. When dried, this mountain hay, with its gramineous plants, flowers and herbs, has great medicinal value.
Since Medieval times, hay has been known to help alleviate rheumatic illnesses. For this reason, over the past century, the wellness industry has designed the first "hay baths" as a wellness facility for mountain holiday goers.
| Hay baths have since then become quite popular among wellness guests.
For the treatment, the hay is first dried, which releases the main active ingredient, the essential oil kumara. Lying down on a pre-warmed lounge chair, the guest is "embedded" in warm hay. This relaxing treatment lasts about 20-30 minutes, until the mild temperature intensively stimulates the metabolism.
Hay baths are recommended for those with respiration problems, rheumatism, chills and preventing all types of illnesses.
