From hula hooping to skiing
„Übergossenen Alm“ in Salzburger Land is proud to announce the opening of the world’s first Aloha ski school
Hula hooping was the craze in the 50s and 60s. No matter who you were, you joined in on the latest trend and swung the colourful rings around your hips, not only to show that you were “cool”, but also to add a little tropical Hawaiian flair to your everyday life. In the “first Aloha ski school in the world“, invented by Hotel Übergossenen Alm in Dienten, Salzburger Land, hula hooping is reliving its renaissance: as a great way to get you warmed up before hitting the slopes.
Participants meet in an area in front of the Alpine Resort & Spa “Übergossene Alm” called the “Waikiki”, which features a tropical ambiance with Hawaiian music and Palm trees. Here, hotel guests can take part in the “first Aloha ski school in the world” for a morning warm-up. You won’t find your average ski aerobics with stretching and hopping exercises here! After a cheery “Aloha” greeting, your instructor will hand you a colourful hula hoop. Then you will be shown how to swing the hula hoop not only around your hips, but also around your chest area, stomach and even your knees! Not everyone gets the hang of it immediately, but you’re guaranteed loads of fun and laughs, and after 15 minutes, everyone will soon be hula hooping away. This is a great way to physically and mentally prepare yourself for the slopes – which, by the way, are directly at the foot of your hotel door. The Aloha ski school, which is based on many years of the instructor’s professional experience, doesn’t just end there with a twirl of a hula hoop. Children in the morning day care programme will get to enjoy Hawaii toast and pineapple juice, and adults get to enjoy an incredibly relaxing Lomi-Lomi massage at the end of a long day of skiing. This special massage is based on old Hawaiian tradition and is said to cleanse the body, both physically and mentally. From January - March 2007, the 4-star Alpine Resort & Spa “Übergossene Alm” is offering a special Hawaii package, which includes 7 days with a wellness room & board, which includes a generous breakfast buffet, afternoon snacks, a cake buffet and evening gala meals, a 6-day ski pass, a 6-day beginner’s ski course for adults, the use of our wellness and vitality area called “Hochkönigs Vitalreich” and one Lomi-Lomi massage treatment. Prices starting at 1,260 Euros per person. “Übergossene Alm” is situated approx. 70 km south-west of Salzburg and is right in the middle of the popular ski resort area called “Hochkönigs Winterreich”, with 38 cable cars and lifts and 180 km of slopes and where snow is guaranteed. This region is also right next to Austria’s largest ski association “Amadé”.
